Pretty shocking to think about these experiments on humans in the last century but its interesting that he knew this but valued the potential scientific output higher:

This is a shameful episode. They anticipated "… that some parts of society would not approve", but failed to see that the wrong of it is cannot be negated by a favorable cost-benefit analysis.
